Top Blog Don'ts

This is our first try at posting an article from Ezinearticles.com.
Ezinearticles.com is a site where you can get content for your sites and share the articles with you visitors.
It is free content that you merely select from a large directory of articles. You also can write your own articles and submit them to Ezinearticles to be available to others for their sites.

Blogging is an important part of earning an online income. Google Blogger, and WordPress are the most popular blogging platforms. Both are excellent for blogging, if you set it up for success. New blogs or existing blogs, there are some things that you shouldn't forget to include!
Don't rely on another marketers blog! While it is a good thing to comment and participate on other blogs, that should not be the only way you blog. Set up your own blog, with your own ideas and topic. If you only participate, you will make others money, but not yourself.
Don't be all over the place. Focus, focus, focus! Focus on one topic. Find your niche and stick to it. If you happen to find another interesting topic, simply start another blog. What will bring you income and traffic is focus.
Don't create a paper cutter blog. Make your blog uniquely you. Add your own style to the template and layout. Add your personality to your postings. Your visitors will like what they read if it contains even a hint to who you really are.
Don't blog on a subject you know nothing about. Blogs require constant, fresh content. If you are blogging on a subject you don't know, your blog will show it, and you won't get many visitors. Blog about something you have a passion for and knowledge about.
Don't ignore comments others post on your blog! If someone comments on your blog, at least thank them for doing so! If they commented with an addition to the post, keep the conversation going! Invite them to continue communication. The more active you are on your blog, the more people will enjoy visiting! Repeat visitors are a definite asset to increasing your exposure and income potential.
Don't forget a way to contact and follow you! You can't get leads if you don't have a sign up form. You can't get followers, if you don't have a "follow me" button for visitors to follow. Remember, you need traffic, you need to keep faithful readers informed.
Don't leave out keywords! Keywords and tags draw automatic traffic to your blog. Choose them carefully and target them to the post. If you have a blog on parenting, and you post a piece on back to school, choose keywords that fit your topic of the post, such as, back to school, school, prepare, high school, college, elementary school, and so on.
Don't leave out a few widgets and plug-ins. You can find a widget or plug-in for almost anything. These are like apps on your smartphone. There are plug-ins for weather report, and world time, SEO and marketing tips. As with posting and templates, choose widgets and plug-ins that fit the theme of your blog.
Start your blogging off on the right path from the start. Make sure your blog is optimized to draw traffic! The more traffic, the bigger the potential.
